Custom domains

Put your app on your own domain name, with automatic HTTPS.

Every project gets a working web address the moment it deploys. But when you're ready to go public, you'll want your app on your own domain — app.yourcompany.com instead of the default address. The Custom Domains view, in your project settings, is where you add it.

Annotated screenshot of the Custom Domains view: an "Add domain" field at the top, a domain row below showing the DNS record to add (a CNAME target) with a copy button, and a status badge moving from "Pending" to "Active". Callout: "Add your domain, copy one DNS record, done."

Adding a domain

Type the domain you want to use and Pikku Studio Cloud shows you a single DNS record to add at your domain registrar — a CNAME pointing at the target Pikku Studio Cloud gives you. Copy it, paste it into your registrar, and you're done on Pikku Studio Cloud's side.

Verification and HTTPS

Once the DNS record is in place, Pikku Studio Cloud verifies it and the domain's status moves from Pending to Active. Pikku Studio Cloud also provisions the HTTPS certificate for you automatically, so your custom domain is secure from the moment it goes live — there's nothing extra to set up or renew.

You only ever add one DNS record. Pikku Studio Cloud handles verification, the secure certificate, and keeping it renewed.

Per stage

Domains are attached per stage, so you can point app.yourcompany.com at production and staging.yourcompany.com at a preview stage — each one routed to the right deployment.

Good to know

  • Your default address keeps working. Adding a custom domain doesn't take the original one away.
  • DNS can take a little while. After you add the record, verification completes once your registrar's change has propagated.
  • Remove any time. Take a domain off and traffic falls back to the default address.
