Workflows
Viewing and understanding multi-step workflows in your project.
A workflow is a multi-step job — "when X happens, do A, then B, then C." Instead of one isolated action, it's a chain of smaller jobs that run in order. In the Builder you can see every workflow your project has, laid out visually, so you can confirm it does exactly what you asked before it ever runs.

What a workflow is, in plain terms
Think of a workflow as a recipe your app follows. For example: when a new customer signs up → send a welcome email → add them to your mailing list → notify your team. Each step is one small job (a function), and the workflow is the order they happen in.
You don't have to wire these steps together yourself. You describe the outcome in chat, and the AI builds the workflow for you.
Seeing the steps before they run
The Workflows tab shows each workflow as a diagram of connected steps, so you can read the shape of the whole process at a glance.
- Confirm it matches what you asked. Walk through the steps and check the order and the actions are what you intended.
- Spot anything missing. If a step is wrong or absent, you'll see it here, while it's still safe to change.
- Understand your app. Even workflows you built weeks ago are easy to re-read — the diagram is the documentation.
This is a design-time view: you're inspecting the shape of the workflow, not watching it run.
Asking for changes
If a workflow isn't quite right, just tell the chat — "add a step that texts me when the order ships" or "remove the mailing-list step." The AI updates the workflow and shows you a plan before making the change, and you'll see the new shape in this tab.
Seeing workflows actually run
This page is about understanding the shape of a workflow before it goes live. Once your app is deployed, you'll want to watch real runs — which ones happened, whether they succeeded, and what each one did. That lives in Workflows in production.
Where to go next
- Chat — ask for a new workflow or change an existing one.
- Workflows in production — watch real runs and review run history.
- Agents — the AI helpers that can decide which jobs to run.
