A meditation practice built on the Egyptian pantheon

A map of temples, a lotus garden that grows with tending, and a curator who never reads your garden.

A practitioner signs in and sees the pantheon as a map of temples, each deity focused on its domain. They log today’s mood as a lotus, watch the garden grow with tending and wilt with neglect, and are pointed to a temple whose guided walk and meditations fit. A second frontend gives the curator a plain back office to author all of it, and a roll of who is practising that never exposes an individual.

Built for named people, not job titles.

Before anything was built, the people who would use it were written down by name. Each one gets a real account, and every screen is clicked through as each of them before it ships.

  • Nefret

    Practitioner

Logs a lotus most evenings and follows the walk she is pointed to.

  • Kha

    Practitioner

A second practitioner, so nobody can ever see anybody else’s garden.

  • Imhotep

    Curator

Authors pantheons, deities, walks and exercises from a separate app, and can never read a garden.

One milestone at a time.

This is the plan the app was built from. Each milestone is written in plain words, together with the check that proves it works.

9 milestones, 5 built, 4 planned

  1. 1

    The temple map

    built

A practitioner signs in and sees the Egyptian pantheon as a map of temples, each deity focused on its domain.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Nefret' has no sessions
    2. When 'Nefret' opens the app home
    3. Then she sees the Egyptian pantheon's temples on the map
    4. And Het-Heru's temple shows her domain of love
  2. 2

    The mood lotus garden

    built

A practitioner logs today's mood as a lotus; the garden grows with tending, wilts with neglect; nobody else can see it.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Nefret' has no mood entry today
    2. When 'Nefret' logs calm
    3. Then her garden shows today's lotus
    4. And the app points her at the emotion's deity's temple
    5. When 'Kha' opens his garden
    6. Then he sees only his own entries
    7. And 'Kha' reaching for 'Nefret's entries is refused
  3. 3

    Meditation sessions

    built

A practitioner plays an exercise's audio/video from a temple and their completion is recorded as their own session.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Nefret' has no session for Hathor's evening calm meditation
    2. When 'Nefret' plays it from Hathor's temple and completes it
    3. Then her history with that exercise shows one session
    4. And 'Kha' reaching for 'Nefret's session record is refused
  4. 4

    The curator's library

    built

A second frontend where the curator authors pantheons, deities and exercises; practitioners see the changes; practitioners cannot write.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Imhotep' is signed into the curator app
    2. When 'Imhotep' adds a wisdom deity with one exercise to the pantheon
    3. Then 'Nefret' sees that temple on her map
    4. And 'Nefret' creating a deity is refused
    5. And 'Imhotep' reading any practitioner's garden is refused
  5. 5

    The curator portal

    built

The curator app stops being a one-page form and becomes a plain white/dark admin portal — sidebar, entity index, tables, edit drawers — with none of the practitioner's night chrome.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Imhotep' is signed into the curator app
    2. When 'Imhotep' opens the portal
    3. Then the sidebar lists every part of the library
    4. And the portal is in the light scheme with no night styling
    5. When 'Imhotep' switches to the dark scheme
    6. Then the portal is dark and stays dark on the next visit
    7. When 'Imhotep' opens a pantheon from the table
    8. Then its record opens in a drawer over the table
    9. And 'Imhotep' renames it and saves
    10. And 'Nefret' sees the new name on her map
  6. 6

    The library under edit

    planned

Every field the practitioner reads becomes editable — a temple's full record, its feelings, and the gates — with update, delete and reorder, not just create.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Imhotep' is signed into the curator app
    2. When 'Imhotep' corrects a temple's transliteration and its photograph credit
    3. Then 'Nefret' reads the corrected name and credit in that temple
    4. When 'Imhotep' moves the temple to a different point on the river
    5. Then 'Nefret' finds its marker in the new place on her map
    6. When 'Imhotep' adds a feeling to that temple
    7. Then 'Nefret' can choose that feeling in her garden and is sent to that temple
    8. When 'Imhotep' reorders the gates
    9. Then 'Nefret' walks the gates in the new order
    10. And 'Nefret' editing any of it is refused
  7. 7

    The walk under edit

    planned

The curator authors the temple's drawn plan and its five-step guided walk — the yoga poses, the cues, the story — which are today only writable as SQL.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Imhotep' is signed into the curator app
    2. When 'Imhotep' opens a temple's plan and adds a chamber to its spine
    3. Then the plan beside the form redraws with the new room
    4. And 'Nefret' walks into that chamber in that temple
    5. When 'Imhotep' writes a movement step with a pose and a cue
    6. Then 'Nefret' is shown that pose and cue in today's practice
    7. When 'Imhotep' shortens that step's minutes
    8. Then 'Nefret' can advance past it after the shorter time and not before
    9. When 'Imhotep' reorders the steps
    10. Then 'Nefret' walks them in the new order
  8. 8

    Uploaded media

    planned

The curator uploads meditation audio and yoga video from the browser instead of committing files to public/media and typing the path by hand.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Imhotep' is signed into the curator app
    2. When 'Imhotep' uploads a meditation recording to a temple
    3. Then the exercise is created with the recording's own duration
    4. And 'Imhotep' plays it back from the table without leaving the page
    5. And 'Nefret' plays that same meditation in that temple
    6. When 'Imhotep' uploads a video for a movement step's pose
    7. Then 'Nefret' is shown that video during that step
    8. And 'Imhotep' uploading a file that is not audio or video is refused
    9. And 'Nefret' asking for an upload URL is refused
  9. 9

    The practitioner roll

    planned

The curator sees who is practising and how the library is being used — counts, reach and trends — without ever being able to read an individual's garden.

    How we check it

    1. Given 'Imhotep' is signed into the curator app
    2. When 'Imhotep' opens the practitioner roll
    3. Then 'Imhotep' sees that 'Nefret' has an account and when she last practised
    4. And 'Imhotep' sees how far 'Nefret' has walked into each temple
    5. And 'Imhotep' reading 'Nefret's mood entry is still refused
    6. When 'Nefret' logs a feeling that has no exercise behind it
    7. Then 'Imhotep' sees that feeling listed as having nowhere to go
    8. And 'Nefret' opening the practitioner roll is refused
